When thinking about design, patterns are what stand out to me the most. In Mexican culture, colorful patterns can be found on everything. The intricacy of hand painted designs are so beautiful and difficult to replicate as each piece is different. Growing up, I was always fascinated by Mexican Talavera, which is a type of hand-painted ceramic pottery.
Although it is often very colorful, my favorite was always the traditional blue and white designs. In this illustration, I wanted to create my own pattern inspired by the Talavera, experimenting with patterns and motifs that I grew up seeing, in a way that let me explore both my culture and my creativity.
