My work is a celebration of the intersectional experience of Black womanhood. The pieces are strung together by the themes of joy, femininity, and daydreams that are inspired by my identity. Through my whimsical portraits, I create spaces where Black women can exist in romantic and empowering contexts, free from societal constraints. Color, patterns, and textures play a significant role in my process. I experiment with different dynamics of materials to create pieces that feel both dynamic and intimate. My inspiration often comes from within, drawing from my own experiences and familial connections.
As the founder of HourNine, an art collective devoted to creating inclusive and creative experiences, I’ve spent the last three years fostering a community that uplifts and prioritizes women of color. My art, like my community work, is rooted in the desire to blend creativity with empowerment, offering others a space to feel seen and celebrated.
